We can all agree that there are quite a few environmental issues present in today’s society. As a company, we are aware of the possibilities we have and we are committed to improving the quality of our surroundings. Individually, we want to go beyond the cliché concept of making the world a better place and ingrain it as an attitude.
Here at Amber, we wanted a day in which we could give some help outside the studio walls. At first, we asked every employee what they would choose as a charitable cause. They came up with a handful of activities – it was really inspiring to see everyone willing to get out there and make things happen.
After consulting them and putting each chosen cause to a vote, it came down to help preserve nature and take care of animals from shelters. Thus, the first edition of Amber Volunteer Day was born.
For this first edition, we got in touch with the administration of the Bucharest Botanical Garden and enrolled for rearranging and cleaning some areas of the garden. The Bucharest Botanical Garden, now named after its founder, Dimitrie Brandza, is in Cotroceni, a district of Bucharest. It has a surface of 17.5 hectares and has more than 10,000 species of plants. The gardens were opened in 1891, when the building of the greenhouses finished.
We also found out about a horse shelter that needed some volunteers to help around. The place is called “Steaua Sperantei” and was founded in 2008, in Bucharest. Since then, with help from ALPAB and volunteers it has saved over 200 horses. Everyone was really thrilled about going at this shelter, besides the horses and the dogs, they also have an incredibly funny llama named Mayo. The Amber volunteers helped by cleaning the shelter and feeding the animals.
The Amber people took part in this activities with excitement and treated their tasks with responsibility. It was hard work, but there was also room for fun and games.
