So it’s no surprise that our team was always inspired to go beyond the studio walls and use their experience to improve the social and environmental condition of our city and community.
Among all social issues we considered tackling, we identified education is the area where we could make the largest impact.
We asked ourselves how we can improve access to information and how we engage students in the process of learning game development.
Although the industry is evolving year by year and there are so many talented students there, no school in Romania teaches any student something more tangible about this field.
You have some programming, basic design concepts, maybe some storytelling, but when you sum it up, there’s no specialized program about game development.
This is how Amber Academy was born – an educational program that aims to share its educational resources with the entire gaming industry: from students, to other peeps, and last but not least, with our colleagues.
Since 2017, we try to share with the students as much about game development as possible, in an informal, fun and engaging way.
Bringing together people from the industry is one of the thrills of working in gaming, so we’ve thought of a way to make the most of it.
For each event, we invite an inspirational speaker for a special workshop, specialized on a specific area of gaming.
Because education starts with us, we’ve developed an internal component of Amber Academy.
Learning & Development aims to upscale our people’s skills through a community where participants have the purpose of learning from each other, testing ideas, solve challenges, practice new skills, receive feedback and anything else that the group chooses to be useful in growing training and facilitation skills.
When staying home became the new normal, we thought about solutions to stay close to our Amber Academy community.
